It looks like he is reading it nicely but he sat there for only 2 minutes, chewing (more like eating...) the book and throwing it to the floor...(By the way it's a Japanese book so the words are going up and down!)

お掃除お手伝いしているのかい？

この写真では椅子にじっと座って読書にふけっている様に見えるでしょ？でも実際は本をかんで（噛むというか、はじっこの方食べちゃってます）床に放り投げておしまい。何故かちびくろさんぼの『わし』さんの絵に爆笑していました。
笑いのツボが分からん。
